As a conceptual artist, Tan explores the nature of art and how forms and materiality can be articulated in ideas and concepts, be it through painting, sculpture, found objects, artists books or installations. Often referencing works from the world of art to recontextualize history, Tan probes issues on the reproducibility of images and their spatial and temporal authenticity while opening them to new possibilities.
