Expanding the landscape genre in her first solo exhibition, Sam Bumanlag presents works that employ a two-pronged medium approach in its reconfiguration. Here, paintings and assemblages outline imagined places that chronicle the artist’s practice of collecting and congregating experiences and materials. Together, they form ecstatic alternate realities that ground and level narratives. Meanwhile, images and objects installed in proximity of one another transcend their dimensional qualities and instead propose landscapes as dynamic concepts that are constantly being reconstructed and rebuilt.
