POSE ←→ EXPOSE is an exhibition of excerpts from Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen’s photographic works related to her performances from 2019–2023, and the artist’s latest hair painting series. Her body of work, based on performance art, expands and transforms through different mediums. Lilibeth plays, stretches, and swaps these mediums around, transitioning between subject/object, and using intricate visual elements.
The photographs, stringently shot in a studio or space with controlled lighting, setting and monochromatic backgrounds, freeze their time-based performance counterparts. Their sequential installation creates a constantly shifting exchange between visual language. The photographs are performative, the performance depicted static, the figure in the photograph sculptural and so on.
