The Armory Show 2026

September 24 - 27, 2026

The Drawing Room presents the works of Southeast Asian-American artists Rirkrit Tiravanija (Thailand), Tomas Vu (Vietnam) and Dominic Mangila (Philippines).

The exhibition will feature Tiravanija’s paintings on newspapers exploring themes of political upheaval and global turmoil. Tiravanija will present his ongoing inquiry on social disorder.

Vu will present paintings that explore David Bowie’s influence on art, technology, identity, and building cultural bridges. Vu’s wooden surfboards are modeled on the alaia, a pre-20 th century Hawaiian surfboard that was traditionally between 7 and 12 ft long and made from koa wood. Vu’s boards are produced using natural material shaped with human hands, and are thus variable and imperfect. The imagery and text are then laser cut on these boards, employing a mechanical process to describe a mechanized future.

Mangila will exhibit paintings that reference the geopolitics of 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption in Luzon Island, Philippines and the underwater imagining of the contested West Philippine Sea through abstraction and history painting.
