The Drawing Room Contemporary Art proposes a presentation of works by its represented artists Vermont Coronel Jr. and Troy Ignacio. The artists both use paper and have different methods of handling it as base for material and symbolic support in their visual explorations. Inspired by urban landscapes, they methodically observe and illustrate the ubiquitous brutalist architecture that coexist with contemporary infrastructures in the cities of Metro Manila, which are softened and enlivened by the constant presence of thriving flora in the concrete terrain. The contrasting fragility and stability of paperworks become more evident because of the artists’ subject matter.
