Pam Yan Santos’ exhibition “Building things we know we may not know,” an installation of mixed media paintings and objects, explores these connections between the gestures of building and the human condition of being in progress. Similar to existence, we find ourselves building and solving what seems to be a series of puzzles. It is to be in continuous search for wholeness, completion, and a shifting greener pasture that hopes to be better than the present. Perhaps, today, wholeness means a pause, a breath; on other days, it can mean lightness and freedom.
