It is a curiosity, a venture, maybe a moment of learning or self reflection. The artistic experience goes both ways: art may either touch you or stay dormant on the wall. To artists, the event is a toe in the water, to find out if what has been expressed is warm, full of life, or cold. Art seekers test taste and whoever lives under a rock comes back to reconnect and reinvent.

It might be too much to ask, with too much to see and too little space to simply regard what is in front of you.
