To regard a painting, to experience it, and to know both its intrinsic character and some nested piece of its artist, demands an onerous effort similar to its creation. More difficult still is to look and to perhaps imagine where it is headed, and what is born from the language that its artist continues to master. In the everchanging and fast-paced landscape of Contemporary Philippine Art, we turn from its to present topography to its seeds modest in their rooted breadth but considerable in their growth towards a blooming vibrant state. For this exhibition, The Drawing Room regards 14 young artists and their painterly visions, gestures, and language, that suggest the gradations of artistic process of an incoming generation of contemporary Filipino painters.
