Instructions on Viewing the Landscape
INSTRUCTIONS ON VIEWING THE LANDSCAPE

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Buen Calubayan devises his art projects in order to learn to see the larger picture of the society he is a part of. He employs techniques in painting, installation, archiving, and publishing as he navigates through mainstream, museum-based, and non-traditional modes of art validation. He combines these artistic practices with Waldorf parenting towards a scientific, creative, and spiritual approach to research.

He studied Fine Arts and obtained Masteral units on Cultural Heritage Studies at the University of Santo Tomas. His work experiences include teaching, museum work, graphic design and painting. He is a recipient of the Cultural Center of the Philippines Thirteen Artists Awards (2009) and Ateneo Art Awards (2013).

He will be participating in a research-based art residency at the NTU Center for Contemporary Art in Singapore this May-June where he plans to develop his project Instructions on Viewing the Landscape in relation to a different, larger context of Singapore and Southeast Asia.
